Chicago students are still recovering from years of disruption.
- Only 40% of CPS students are at or above grade level in reading, and just 26% are proficient in math
- Chronic absenteeism remains high, with about 41% of students consistently absent
- Enrollment continues to decline, with CPS losing 7,000–10,000 students each year
At a time when students need more time in the classroom — not less — using students for politics is what is wrong with the Chicago Public Schools.
